Philippines: Satur back on campaign trail; Palace, AFP finally ...

Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita has finally admitted MalacaƱang's leading role in the fabricated charges leveled against Rep. Ocampo and the campaign to crush Bayan Muna.

Ermita's statements on Wednesday about the purported certainty that Ocampo will soon return to jail and other fulminations in clear contempt of the Supreme Court demolishes once and for all the unbelievable script that MalacaƱang has no role whatsoever in the attempts to discredit Ocampo and Bayan Muna.

As to Esperon's claim that Bayan Muna's certain win in the May 14 elections is like having communist rebels in Congress: This confirms the military's targeting of a duly-accredited partylist group whose membership is 100 percent civilian and 100 percent non-combatant. No wonder the military death squads continue to kill Bayan Muna members.

Hollywood attorney says 'stay out of court'

He has settled some of Hollywood's biggest celebrity divorces, but American super-lawyer Forrest Mosten has urged Brisbane family law specialists to stay out of court.

Addressing a conference of local lawyers, Mr Mosten promoted the effectiveness of collaborative law, which involves mediation between both parties, finding a settlement without the need for lengthy court battles.

His past clients include some of the biggest names in Tinseltown, who he said prefer out-of-court mediation because of the privacy that comes with it.

"Celebrities value their privacy, especially in matters of conflict. By opting for a more dignified process their private affairs are less likely to land them on the tabloid covers for all the wrong reasons," Mr Mosten said.

Montgomery admits bank fraud

FORMER world 100m record-holder Tim Montgomery pleaded guilty today in connection with a multi-million-dollar bank fraud and money-laundering scheme.

The plea was announced in New York by his lawyer, Robert McFarland, who declined to discuss details. Montgomery was charged last year along with his athletics coach Steven Riddick and 11 others in an alleged conspiracy to deposit $6.2 million in stolen, altered or counterfeit cheques at several banks over three years. Montgomery, 32, set the world 100m record in 2002 and was a member of the winning US 400me relay team at the 2000 Olympics. He retired in 2005 after he was banned for two years by the Court of Arbitration for Sport for doping linked to the investigation of the San Francisco-area based BALCO lab, which was the focus of a US government investigation into doping in sports.

DA calls for new Zim road map

Zimbabwe's 27th anniversary of independence on Wednesday should be marked with a plan clearly setting out successive steps to restore democracy and good governance to that country, the Democratic Alliance (DA) said. "The 27th anniversary of Zimbabwean independence ... is the most dismal in that country's history," DA spokesperson Douglas Gibson said in a statement. President Robert Mugabe had turned one of the "jewels of Africa", to use former Tanzanian president Julius Nyerere's description, into a disaster area. Life continued, becoming worse for Zimbabweans instead of better, and Mugabe and his Zanu-PF party should accept full responsibility for what they had done, Gibson said. "This anniversary day may act as an impetus, spurring the African Union and SADC [Southern African Development Community] to start taking steps which will result in real change.

Doctors to Profit from their Medical Device Ideas

Agents for Medics (A4M) is a new Hollywood based company that is the world's first agency to represent doctors in "selling" their medical device ideas to healthcare companies.

Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) March 23, 2007 -- The medical device industry is a multi-billion dollar business. Many everyday operations and medical procedures use devices that were originally devised by doctors. But doctors have little time to deal with the long and complex procedure of bringing those ideas to market. Often, through poor understanding and poor negotiation, they end up making little money from their ideas.

A4M provides a much needed link between the doctors, who invent the devices, and the multi-national medical companies, who make and sell them.

"Doctors are always looking to improve medical procedures," says Steve Bell, co-founder of A4M and former manager at Johnson & Johnson.
